Surveys & questionnaires

What they are, where they live, and the two ways one reaches a person.

A survey in PULSE is any set of questions you send to people and read the answers to — a one-question NPS check, a satisfaction pulse, or a forty-question discovery questionnaire for a consulting engagement. They are all the same object, so everything in these articles applies whether you are asking one question or three hundred.

Four types

You choose the type when you create one. NPS, CSAT and CES arrive with their standard question and scoring already set up. Custom starts empty and you build whatever you need.

Draft, active, closed, archived

A new questionnaire is a draft, and a draft cannot be sent — that is what a draft is for. Make it active when it is ready to go out. Closing one stops new responses without deleting anything, and archiving takes it out of the main list. Answers already collected are never affected by a status change.

Two ways one reaches a person

A questionnaire can use both at once. The difference matters for more than attribution — see the trust rules in "Branding, and answers that update your records".

  • A per-person email link. You pick contacts, PULSE emails each one their own link, and every answer is tied to that contact and lands on their timeline. Use this whenever you care who said what.
  • A public link. One URL that works for anyone who has it, with an optional embed. Nobody has to be a contact, and the answers are not attributed to anyone.

Start from a template

Settings → Templates → Surveys holds your reusable questionnaires. Any survey can be saved there with Save as template, and a template can be personal to you or shared with the team. PULSE also ships starter templates so you are never staring at an empty page.

Reusing one properly

To send the same questionnaire to a second client, create a new one from the template rather than reusing the original. Each engagement then keeps its own responses, its own due date and its own recipient list, and the template stays clean for next time.
